Can crs breed w/o chiller? even if it's in a no planted tank
without chiller i doubt can breed, unless air con on 24/7
not true. i did it without chiller and in a 1ft tank. breed like nobody business. however i'm keeping lower grade then. Like grade A to C. of coz w/o chiller, the color wasn't that nice and it may not work for higher grade CRS, not sure about that as I didn't try with higher grade then.

i breed crs in my 2ft tank without chiller before temperauture was around 25-26degree mainly because at night i on aircon and in the morning i didnt open the windows and curtain and the door close all the time so the temp can maintain. decide not to do that anymore cause the room stinks without any vantilation.
Chiller is not a must but highly recommended. Many of the bros get by with using Fans and just evaporative cooling.
If its a small tank and you don't mind daily water topups its entirely possible. But if your tank temperature ever goes above 29C at all, with fan cooling active, your location is definitely too warm and you should seriously consider a small chiller.
Most CRS keepers keep some moss in the tank because its really not much of a hassle. If you're not running a chiller and you want low maintenance, you can try Java moss or Taiwan moss.
Its not expensive and its pretty hardy stuff. For the price of one single A Grade CRS or even less you can get enough Java moss or Taiwan moss for a 2ft tank.
It will give your shrimps and shrimplets somewhere to hide and lower their stress levels.
yap previously mine was a planted tank but decom already due to some water problems and sold off all my crs. Now setting up another tank with just a bogwood and some stones so wondering if crs can breed without any plants or moss.
maybe add some ketapang leaves to have a leaf litter effect? helps to soften water and lower pH as well as provide shelter and food.
Cheers,

Thanks guys for the info
A bag of moss (eg taiwan or spiky) cost between $3-5. If buying just a bag of plants is a problem, how did u buy CRS?
Plants is not a must, but as others mentioned, it provides hiding space and good for them when they mould. Besides, plants helps to absorb e ammonia/waste.
Where did you get that info from?
i did say i sold off my crs so after cycling i bought back crs with the money sold and i did mention i wanted a planted tank so more plants need to be bought anw i manage to sold off some unused staffs and got us fissden in my tank.
