Betta albimarginata Newbie

I am putting The B.Albimarginata into my community tank with cardinals, Boraras and.. A.Pauciquamis. The bettas seem to be very very shy.

The substrate is ADA Africana & Sand. Ph will be around 5. I read that they require a higher pH. Is that the reason why the Albi are so shy? Another reason i can think of is probably that there isn't enough hiding spaces. Maybe they require more hiding spaces than apistos.

I'm not sure if they are shy. But the last time I had them, it seems to me they don't take dry food. They only wanted live shrimp.
