    Dear all,

Over the past 2-3 days, I have been getting 2-3 dead Malayan shrimps. Dun seems to be attacked as their bodies are intact. All turned pinkish or reddish. Anyone know what could be the cause?

Please let us know you tank water parameters. Just saying your shrimps died cannot help you to solve any problem. Even doctors need to know the symptoms and other info before they can make any accurate diagnosis.

If I am not wrong....I think you may want to take a measurement of nitrates level. High nitrate kills and shrimps are most vulnerable in this sense.

Thanks all for info. I guess you guys are right as I have added 2 rams and 10 rasboras at one go last weekend. Thereafter, the shrimps start dying. Will continue to monitor the situation.

Beneficial bacteria is always in the tank.
To keep nitrates to a minimum, use good filtration and do frequent partial water changes, say 15% twice a week or 30% once a week. Personally i feel smaller, more frequent water changes is best.
Currently keeping many wild betta species and other anabantoids.

    H20 Change is essential!
And also try to look for dead carcasses in the tank. Rotting stuff tend to up your nitrate level.
And to a certain extent, good water flow helps too..

Have found the culprit who has been causing the deaths of my Malayan shrimps. I saw my betta attacked and killed a shrimp. The rest of the fishes then started to feast on it. Will be getting ride of the betta soon. Any taker?
