Thanks for the information.
I asked Aden about 2 weeks ago, he told me he 'dare not' bring in altums anymore. Wonder what made him change his mind.

Yun Feng has alot of altums, selling in batches. So far, I think he is the only one I know since 2 years ago to be able to stabilise them very successfully, so this time round, looks like he is depending on his previous success as he brought in alot of young one and selling them in batches at very good prices.

Thanks for the information.

7-day window period is all it takes to wipe out all altums if they are not ok. Btw, I spoken with Gan last week. He told me that it is too early for Altum. He is not ready to bring them in yet. There are reasons. Therefore, guys be vigilant when buying altum. There is a saying " die until scare "

Hi
I saw the Altums in Yun Feng...well...I have reservations about buying it. Selling it at $60 for 3 pieces..it is all in individual tanks where I suppose you must buy the batch by batch from the tanks and not allowed to mix and match. To me, I dont feel confident in buying it.
Seaview selling 5 pieces for $80 dollars...about 20 cents coin body size...20 pcs for $240. ..that makes out to about $12 per piece...BUT!!!!...you are not allowed to see the fishes...they will only catch for you when you want it from a hidden place...I dont understand how come people are selling Altums like as though they are the forbidden fruit.![]()

I think both Yun Feng and Seaview want to minimize the stress to the fishes.
I went to Yun Feng earlier, the altums are kept in batches of 3 and 4 like what Fishking mentioned. Did not ask if we could pick and choose.
Spoke to Aden, he said he was 'psycho' by the supplier and decided to take the batch.![]()
The altums look quite healthy only a few with slightly damaged fins, they appear to be quite active as well... but I am no expert.
I believe some people have the practice of keeping altums that have just arrived in dark tanks (and I am not talking about tank dose with black water extract) but literally, tanks that a dimly lit, this is done to reduce stress to the fishes, that could be what Seaview is doing hence the seemingly strange way they are selling their altums.

Hmmmm..If that is the case, then very funny because here we are buying things that we dont even know if it is healthy or not..![]()

Well time will tell literally, no harm done if you don't buy it. The longer they stay at the shop, the better the chance they have surviving in your tank.

imho, a good altum seller will be able to keep them for a month after arrival in spore before selling, ie. if he can keep them alive after arrival in spore, then they will definitely be stable enough, but having said that altums are still a handful in terms of difficulty in keeping them alive even after a month in spore.

True, which is why I say Yun Feng has the knack of doing that, the last batch of maybe 7 pieces if my memory serves me correct they had previously was there in the tank for a few months before it was sold.

thanks for the info ^^

Even keep for month, the altum may not survive when it reaches our house cos altums will recognize the environment and sensitive to the water it was kept. I bought 5 adult size kept by owner for 3 years but back to my house died after 7 days. haha. Lost me 1 month salary. Point to note: As long as u find altums in a tank or back which have fins fully open when not disturb at all, you can buy. Make sure all are open fins not even one clamp. Make sure u got good quality old water at home before buying. Put 2 k leaves without stock cos stock will make the water cloudy. Best is heater on at 28 for a month. Enjoy keeping
Treat your fishes like your baby. The sign and symptom is the same but cannot talk.
Go nature

I think keeping altums could be hazardous to your wallet.
I don't think this is recommended for newbie fishkeeper who have yet understood the different kinds of water quality and treatment of softwater diseases.
That said some guys can be extremely lucky and just 'wing' it.
