to a bigger tank..
then i bubbling it with oxygen...
and the light is to let them grow lah...
1) Are you sure you have Java moss and not Riccia?
2) Plants need CO2 not O2 for photosynthesis. Check basic biology.
3) Bubble count is for CO2, not air pump.
4) Java moss dun need 36W/L to grow. People will think you growing algae instead.
5) Java moss grow slowly. You will have better luck if you spread the Java moss thinnly tied to something in your main tank.
6) Java moss needs cooler water (<30C). (Dun start adding ice cubes)
I know this is not the magic elixir you are looking for, but there are no shortcuts to do this.![]()

Good water flow seems to work.
Java moss is pretty tough, so it's fairly hard to kill. You don't need to bubble air. Less light, about 2W/G or a bright place but not under direct sunlight. CO2 and fertilisers will definitely enhance growth.

A woman: without her, man is nothing.
You don't need a lot of java moss to grow... a lot...
Just spread them very thinly, without much overlapping, over the driftwood or whatever. In a month time, you will get a thick layer of them. Stacking a thick chunk will cause most to be unable to attached to the wood, and they will come lose easily. Might get browing initially as well.
Cool water tends to give a more leafy moss, although the 'leaves' are still as small.

ok ok i understand a bit liao lor...
firstly wat i have is java moss lah.
and i do know that plants need co2 to
photosynthesis...cos i heard b4 to aerate
the tank so that water will flow like wat
vinz says...
anyway thanks for the info ck yeo...
acutally i intend to do a wall of moss
at the back and bottom of tank...then i
intend to put shrimps inside...to make a
small shrimp tank bout 1 feet...
thats why i growing java moss first then
transfering then to the main tank itself...
also can i grow riccia too?? i understand without
enough co2 the riccia wouldnt pearl out o2
but its ok lah...just wanna have the look lor....
also thanks for the info ppl...
really appreciate it...![]()
Friend,
Carbon is the basic building of life. And most plants get theirs from carbon dioxide. Well, I think you can definetely make your carbon dioxide using sugar fermentation process with yeast. Do a search on DIY Carbon Dioxide, you will understand. Another thing, for riccia to grow well, co2 is a must!
