Hi,
Can you also PM the contact and also the cost of the setup of the cooling fans?
Thanks.

From the pic, may I suggest the lights & fans to be raise a few cm high to allow more exhaust. Is that a 3ft or 5? I always wonder how the noise from the fans will affect the fish well being in a long run.. stress?[]
Turaco.
Hi all,
Mine is a 3 ft tank and I paid $100 for the fans. Initially, i felt it was on the high side, however, if u do some calculations, its actually not so bad. I think the costs of the 4 fans, variable adaptor and acrylic is almost 80 bucks already so i wouldnt mind paying 20 bucks more for the workmanship.
All my fans are blowing on the water surface, but i can change the directions anytime i want. Just need to unscrew the fans and turn them ard to draw air out. U can also control the voltage of the adaptor which essentially means the noise level of the fans too. I think the best things abt this product are its ease of use and customisabiltiy - ie controlling fan speed, changing wind current (in or out, u decide) and also easy to remove when adding plants. Price worth it lah...
In any case, those who are interested, pls mail to: [email protected]. His name is jason. Cheers!![]()
hippo, if possible, use 1 to 2 of them to extract hot air...
Woah quite expensive I should say. From the pics, its a Nidec fan, each fan $8. Adaptor around $15. With 4 fans, it shd be $50. Dunno how much just for the acrylic with holes drilled.
But if you like it, then enjoy it lah[:

Simon - roger that. Thanks. Will try out diff configurations today to see the effect.
Joe - Sorry, i dont think the variable adaptor costs $15 only. Its definitely more than that. I have seen them at Sim Lim before, more than 30 if i remember correctly. Unless of course, u get a 2nd hand one lah...![]()
u using DC or AC?
how thick is the acrylic sheet ?
it's very nice, i also place my fans blowing down to the water between 2 light sets, at the same time of cooling the water it also cools the light sets. my guess is a 8mm acrylic. i know a acrylic fabrication company in ubi area, offers a pretty gd quailty job. PM me for details of the company as i dun want to be accuse of spamming.
Ya lor maybe lah, yours can output 5A from the pics. Heh as I said loh, it looks real nice and as long as you like it, good liao loh [:----------------

Fans are running on DC. Acrylic sheet is 10mm thick.
eh bro hippo i got the same dc fan as urs...$3 or $3.50 each. dc/ac Adaptor kess $10.
+wire and all those rubbish .. cost u less then $30. $100 is way way to much.
Let's see ...
Fans = 4 x $4 = $16
Adaptor = $20 (it needs to support at least 4x130mA if the fans have the same specs as the 1s I have)
Acrylic Sheet = $20 (10mm sheets can cost a bit more)
Wiring, etc = $5 (saw a nice wire organiser in the pic)
=> Total cost of materials = $61
I suppose it is an acceptable price to pay if one doesnt have the time to DIY or if u prefer a more professional-looking product (My fans look like a Pri school Science project compared to the one in the pic).

Where u guys got the fan for $4 each?
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.

Well, what can i say? Money's paid and i find the price reasonable. Like what theo2001 said, thats the price to pay if u dont have the time and skills to come up with one yourself. Sorry guys, i still dont think that i can get a variable adaptor (same brand, same model) at less than $30...![]()
Since there are variations in the price of the variable adaptor, maybe those who are interested can get from jason a quote for the fans, acrylic plate and wires (without adaptor) and see if its reasonable.![]()
I think the adaptor in hippo's case has a higher output than normal issit?
And actually I think maybe 10mm thick acrylic is not neccessary for those wanting to DIY yourself, cuz I know plastics can get quite expensive at thicker widths. or you could always try polycarbonate which is stiffer.
