Here is my rescaped 2 footer. I put all my plants in a tupperware box. IMHO, the tupperware box help me to keep my scape focus in check.

    Fauna:
    3 otos
    20 microrasbora brigittae
Alot of malayan, cherry and tiger shrimps.
10 pieces of large shrimps that look like Malayan bought from Y618 2 months ago. Suspect it is this Australian shrimp:
    http://aquagreen.com.au/plant_data/C...a_sp_WA_4.html
But I can't be sure, but they are really hardy

    Flora:
    Needle leaf java fern
    rotala walichi
some other rotala which name has eluded me for a long time
spider moss (as told by the uncle from colourful, look like Taiwan, but he swears by it that it is not)

    Lighting:
    55w 2foot (8 hours)

    Soil: All from OTF, cheap!
    5kg black quatz sand
1/3 bag of dolphin black plant soil
2kg of small natural coloured pebbles
    4 pieces of weathered granite

    Dosage:
2 caps of Seachem Excel per week
1/2 cap of black water essence and a splash of anti-chlorine with water change

    Feeding:
1/2 tab of Hikari wafer tablet daily
a sprinkle of Dr Bessler's Bio food

Nice... except for that 'log' sticking out.

Good idea with the tupperware. I was thinking of using small terracotta pots for stemmed plants to make the scape more modular. Suppose to be cleaner and easier when it comes to uprooting and replanting... simply remove the pot, replant, put it back. Less fear of clouds of bottom substrate getting into the tank water.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

haha, that's true about the long stick, reminded a friend of something vulgar. Will have to cut it down, although viewing it upfront, it looks quite nice with the stick.

    Re: My little tupperware wonder

it is not HOF, it is a mini canister filter from NA actually and the surface skimmer from Y618 both which I bought eons ago. I tried to do without the skimmer, but the protein scum build up was too much. The air stone at the back is temporary measure then in case the conditions turn anaerobic.

so theres only on inlet from the surface ? if so monitoring of water level have to be quite frequent if not the inlet will not have water ..

thanks for your idea ..... and your setup looks simple and nice ..... very tempt to do one like yours

    Re: My little tupperware wonder

Well, technically it is one inlet apparatus with the two mouths, one on the top and bottom of the surface skimmer, so I still have a large buffer to play with. Once I was too busy, the water level only went slightly between the two mouths and my filter stop working as there was not enough back pressure.

Thanks for your comment, I am trying to encourage all my scaping buddies to go with potting especially the beginners and busy people as they tend to over do their tank on the first go, this kind of give them a mental and physical restriction on their scaping.

Also very effective for that itchy finger that goes "that plant looks very nice, hmmm.." eveytime they are at the LFS.

They are an annual species on the market, found out from Azmi eons ago they are collected at the height of the dry season in the mud pools just before the seasonal flooding begins. My take is to save about $200 and wait till start of 2010. Got to check with Thio to confirm that again, I normally place my order with him last time and then twiddle my thumbs.

    Re: My little tupperware wonder

Here is the picture of my tank recently:
    http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...a/DSC00663.jpg

I have added an additional piece of wood on the side and 4 nerites to my tank along an added group of microrasbora brigittae to create a better schooling effect. The nerites did wonders to cleaning up the algae.

I added some duckweed and now my shrimps take great fun in playing among the duckweed roots. They will gather the roots with their legs and pull them down only to release them up again and swim up to do the same thing.
