how to test trace elements test kit?

Dear Aqua-naughts

I am seeking advise on a good (accurate/quick/easy) method to test a "trace elements" test kit.

I have been supplementing trace elements, but my recently purchased test kit repeatedly reports <0.05mg/L.

The trace element solution instructions suggest 1ML every 10 liters which I added 4 days in a row.

I have an active carbon filter in my canister which may reduce the trace elements a little, I guess?


(I realize some have warned against inaccurate test kits, and quite a few around here favor estimative index over testing. However being keen to learn, i figured test kits seem like a good way to gain insight into what is happening in the tank...)

Any advise will be appreciated.

Which trace element kit that you have? Does it mention that it able to measure many different mineral? because there are many different mineral contained in trace fert. Seachem trace for example contain Boron, Cobalt, Copper, Manganese, Molybdenum, zinc, Rubidium, Nickel, Vanadium

As far as I know we normally did not measure trace element

My trace elements test kit is azoo brand. it doesn't say much on the box.

The trace elements supplement used is Ocean Free brand, and it claims to provide "all trace elements".

The T.E test kit is not flawed but the range is very wide. It is like using Serra PH check solution versus a PH test pen. Therefore, you will be more confused after all the testing and checking about the T.E.
