    Re: my first tank

Hey Nice Tank. But the plants at the back might not be immeresed form. Or rather may not be a true aquarium plant. HAha, I don't know the term. I thought it was Cyperus Helferi but then I saw the white stripes. So may not be fully aquatic. I might be wrong. The other experts here could help.

Shrimppaste is right. The plants at the back are not aquatic. They will melt if left in the water.

    Re: my first tank

Yah they put in water and it will leave inw ater for like maybe 3 months? I don't know the exact time frame but it will soon all melt. If you like that look, you might want to consider the cyperus helferi. It is almost similar but it is softer once it has become submerged form, meaning the top would sway with the water, or rather float on the water surface.

    Re: my first tank

i think if im not wrong that tall grass u had there is japanese rush or sweet flag grass ( acorus sp.)which can be found near the edge of water, which is not suppose to be in planted tank at all , plant you should avoid putting in ur tank.. like everyone suggested it's best to take out the plant. there are non-aquatic plant that we should avoid putting into the tank as some plant are poisonous while others appeared to be fine but in fact can kill off the inhabitants in ur tank. i think u better confirm that plant u had there.. just to be safe

I think TS is living in Aussie..
    nice rocks... I love them...
I think the back plant is too huge for the tank...
also the gravels might not be suitable for planting also..

Benny: nice pictures of your tank.

I noticed a lot of frothing in the yeast Co2 mixture. In case some of the brew goes into the tank, you may like to add in a 2nd bottle of clear water to let it bubble through. It also serves as a bubble counter. See example of such a setup at http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/CO2/co2-faiz.html

    Re: my first tank

You might want to save the trouble of your CO2 spilling into your tank by getting liquid CO2. Aussie prices for commercial liquid CO2 are on the high end, but you can buy some at very reasonable rates from Dave's Dinosaur Spit from Aquagreen, here is the link: http://aquagreen.com.au/plant_data/Dinosaur_Spit.html.
