Trigonostigma hengeli or espei

Hi guys,

As stated in the title. Hoping to get them this weekend.

T. espei, I saw a bunch at C328 in one of the tanks near the entrance. Wu Hu also had them as of last weekend. However, in both these places numbers are limited.

T. hengeli are available in large quantities from Seaview.

Update: C328 has 10 or so pieces left, about 1/2 don't look too healthy

Did my shopping over the weekend and found them at Seaview and Biotope.

Seaview has espei? Or just hengeli?

They labelled them as Hengel's. But there were Harlequins mixed in the tank... so I wouldn't be surprised if there were Espei in there as well. I can't tell the diff between Hengeli and Espei.

Ok thanks vinz. The difference between hengeli and espei are that espei are more copper while hengeli are more golden, and espei's colouration extends through the whole belly area of the fish, around the black "lambchop", while hengeli's colouration is like a sideways "L" shape, or upside-down nike "swoosh" only that outlines the top of the "lambchop" and doesn't go below it.

once you compare them side by side it is easy to tell. hengeli from Sumatra, and espei from Indochina.

Then they were definitely mixed. I wish I had gone to Biotope before Seaview. Biotope had all the fishes I was looking for. Slightly more expensive, but definitely value for money and accurately identified.
