bro, do you have snails?
their eggs are protected by a jelly-like substance like you mentioned.
its cloudy/sticky when the dirt/shit gets stuck on it....
if that is so, your a proud father to alot more snails
i encountered 4 times.. my plants had so called jelly like substance on it.. stuck like glue... so i assume it was eggs.. wen i relocate to another tank, suddenly out of no where, my whole small tank full of plants(growing) is filled with puss something like fish feces all over.. sticky and clouded.. how to notice if it is really eggs or other things..
latest encounter is that Black Skirt Tetra or Gymnocorymbus ternetzi if im not wrong. silver belly with black fins and tail. had 6 and at least half is so called bloated by the belly section.

no. i cleared all my new plants with salt water or sometimes sprite... to clear them off.. and yar.. its exactly like what u described... but im not sure lioa...
If it looks lump of jelly looking substance with alot of small white dotty stuff inside, then it IS snail eggs.
Certain tetras like cardinals do have a tendency to develop bloated stomachs, not due to eggs, but other causes - parasites etc.
I always use an ALUM dip on my new plants, doesnt take them away but the ALUM makes the eggs ALL the eggs stand out and the adult snails drop off the plant.
ALUM is a pickling spice.
Its worked for me so far, only snails in my tank are those that I put there.
