    Hi everyone

just recently, my Ehiem 2224 is leaking water from the bottom corners of the canister. Has anyone had this problem and solved it. I am suspecting either the rubber sealant around the power head or the O-ring where the in and out is damaged.

    1. Check your rubber rig on the motor unit.
    2. Check the rubber ring on the basket. There are two. Make sure it is not hardened as it may cause uneven contact, hence leaking on one side.
    3. check the rubber ring on the valve release.
    4. apply the Vaseline that comes with your filter to the rubber rings.

David was the filter left unused for some time b4 u used it now? If that's the case, the rubber part could be the fault. My 2026 has a similar problem. Bought it as a spare for sometime n when I used it, it was leaking. Luckily now the problem solved by itself.

Sharing similar experience. Other things to take note:
    1) Baskets of media not overfilled and causing filter not closed properly to be water-tight.
    2) If the filter doesn't leak a while after you turn it on, but leaks when you turn it off. Then it is time to replace the O-ring. About $12 from PetMart.

I am using the same filter. Once >2years, the rubber parts would become hardened and crack. Can get the spares for replacement at Petmart for a reasonable price.
