then it is not really "same time" right?

    Yes, you can.

But bear in mind that it takes a while for co2 to build up to optimal level in your tank. If your tank is large, it would take a long time with co2 injection to reach that level.

Just wondering, why would one wants to pump both CO2 and air at the same time?

co2 in the day when plats are photosynthesizing, and pump at night when the plants are not. maybe just a precautionary measure should the level of O2 in the water drop too low at night.

I dont run O2 in my heavy planted tank at night and without any problem at all.

I save on air pump and electricity.

many people has done it without airpum[, so i think it should be ok. anyway, too much o2 will neutralise your nutrient, so it is bad for your plants anyway.

A good surface agitation already generates O2. Running an air pump is just an extra cost on your PUB bills.

Yup, but the downside is good surface agitation loses CO2 too, (CO2 level builds up in the night). Which is expensive and bad for the tank in the long run, ie algea boom, poor plant growth and so on.,

I know. I know. It depends how much surface agitation you have.

I dont have any problems with my Eheim output flow on the surface. But when I installed the Eheim spray recently BBA starts to grow. --the CO2 begun coming down. So i took it off and crank up the CO2 back. BBA are gone in few weeks.

    hi bro.
imho if you are keeping a school of mature angle fish in your planted tank i think is better to have your airpump running at night.

    just my 2 cents.......

Well, try CO2 8 hours and air pump the remaining 16 hours to clear off the CO2. Photosynthesis process are suppose to produce Co2, not?

the plants absorb the CO2 and gives out O2 during the process.
