I wont use it if I were you bro...I don't think there's any coat that will last if you dip those in water.

Re: Wire Mesh ( HELP )

usually people if don't want metal to rust, they apply a layer of paint or coat it with laquar. both will kill shrimps and fish.

so... better not use it.. by the way, even coated with paint, the chances of rust is also there. if in constant contact with water, the paint will deteriote over time. then the metal will rust.

next time when you buy, the safest bet is to get plastic mesh. then weigh it down by tying a fishing weight to it.

I agree with Ning Ning. NEVER EVER get something that will or already rusty in the water. Well, you still can use the wire mesh for bbq at least.

It is going to cost you alot more to coat the mesh. Anyway, you may go to AMK industrial park to have it done - nickel plating, or hard - chrome plating. It is going to be expensive as I am sales engineer in this field.

Re: Wire Mesh ( HELP )

Chemical coating might leech contents into the water, while metal coating is not going to be cost effective.
So one way or another, it doesn't justify doing that.
Not every kind of mesh is suitable for aquatic use, and we mainly use Aluminum based which takes a long time to corrode, and leeches little.
So the next time when you get something of this, ensure you verify the contents.

Actually Sungei Road, there are a few hardware shops that sell mesh that is kinda stainless steel type that never seem to corrode as I have them for years.

Bro he bought the BBQ type of mesh i belive, i do agree that doing plating is not worth due to costing higher then getting a SS mesh.

I never saw the ones which i wanted when i went my near-by hardware shop

bro. if you want a stainless steel mesh that you can cut to size, buy a steel cutter and get the stainless steel mesh from any hardware store. (please ask if it's stainless steel) then measure and cut. that's what alot of bros are doing to sell moss tied to mesh.
