Big SAEs, where can we find them?

Where can we find big SAEs? Need big ones cos got an aro, dont want to buy snackies for him anymore!! Got spot algae coming up on glass wall and pleco is not doing the work. Any advice on that?

don't think any fish has such power suction and teeth to scrape the spot algae on the wall. Use a algae scraper or an unused credit card.

SAE don't really go for BBA unless they are really starve, they make your moss(if any) botak instead. Control of water parameters and nutrients level is better for BBA.

Don't think SAEs will help on spot algae. They go for more filamentrous (spell?) types of algae. If it's on glass, scraping would be your best option either with a glass scrapper or a plastic card.

In any case, I have 2 rather large SAEs for your disposal. Let me know if you want them. But you'll have to wait till next week or so for me to be back in S'pore.

for spot algae, nothing beats a tetratec scraper

I've seen yamatos feeding on spot algae... but you'll need to set up some mini-scaffolding in the tank to let them access the walls.

Opps, forgot its an aro tank... yes, yamatos become very expensive snacks.

I saw some large SAE at Gan's aquarium last weekend. Also, I think Simei's pet safari got big SAE also but dunno if for sale.

Update,

Just put 200 malayan shrimps into the tank in the morning, more than half seem to have dissappeared. Seems like it was rahter expensive snacks for my aro, saw him eating a few. But there seems to be improvement on the algae situation.

90% of 300 Malayan shrimps dissappeared from my aro tank in about 3 weeks. Though I've never seen him chomping on them... just last week, I found out he can hunt in the dark.
