Re: Dolphin MC789 chiller only 23*C

    hi bros,

thanks for your advice and interest in this topic.
hopefully this thread might help some bros here using dolphin chiller.
to do some simple cheap Modd to make the dolphin work.

    i did some calculations.

    1) Dolphin MC789 chiller peliter is 2 * 75W module.
the cooling power Qc is 42W*2 = 84W - i checked the TEC china website ratings.

    2) to cool from 28*C - 22*C=6*C difference, we will need 60W.

    3) plus my 6W water pump it is 66W.

    4) 84-66W = 18W

so i am actually losing 18W of cooling power!

it could be the water pipes losing coldness --> my is nearly 2.5 meters in and out.
OR the heatsink not good enuff --> it feels HOT now after 3 days non-stop.
OR even the 2*120mm fans not powerful enuff?
OR maybe the 2 peliter are too close to each other resulting in HOTspots buliding up too fast for the heat sink and fan to cool it.

    thank u bros again

For a peltier element to be 100% effective, the hot side must be kept as COOL as possible all the time. The usual way of doing this is by using a large heat sink and large fans to draw the heat away from the element. The calculations u have done are just theoratical calculations.
