Java fern and nana are slow grower, I think you need some fast growing plants so that it can out complete the algae. You might also need to plant more heavily.

Oh! really I didn't know that fern cannot be planted into the soil, because so far I have being planting them in the substrate and they are growing very well.

    Hi Bro

I have finally realise that you bros are absolutely right that Java Fern will rot when the roots are burried. The fern that grows well when burried in soil that I mention is Taiwan Fern... will take some picture and post it here.

Bro, after the "renovation", the tank starting to look like a very nice home for apisto.

The opening of the cave ( coconut husk ? ) might be too big for apisto.

    Thanks bro.

I do agreed that the coconut shell opening is big, so was thinking maybe half submerge into the soil leaving half expose... think that should do the job....right?
