I catch them from a longkang. Very good survivor even in the harsh condition. My wild caught guppies have also given birth to some fries already!

From which longkang bro?
yea tell us about it too...
I just got 2 male and 2 female guppies from Colourful in Balestier; took my time to choose the best onesAwaiting to be introduced to the community tank now.
Reasonably priced!
I think is not the guppies no good, is the wrong water condition u used for them. Some need high ph with coral chips, some low with plant, some normal with just water. Worse case some with a lot of salt, normally is a little salt or no. U need to find out from the shop owner what water condition. If they tell the true. haha
Treat your fishes like your baby. The sign and symptom is the same but cannot talk.
Go nature
The guppies are ok now; I've tested pH and it's around 7.0...so far all eating well and swimming happily.
I'm using an 18l tank. What should be the salt ratio vs water?
Are the gravels illustrated above safe for guppy tank setup? I've washed time many times but water still appear cloudy after stirring a few times for thorough cleaning.
Please give me your feedback on my tank here:

The gravel is fine, but must wash clean and sun dry.
What is the filter that you are running? How long already?
I'm using a Boyu waterfall style filter which is coming to
a month old. The filter sponge has been changed and running coming to a couple of weeks.
How many fish can I introduce at one go to join the others? Suspected the previous guppy died due to change in ammonia level by the 4 entering the tank. Also, what should I do to fix the water condition after adding fishes?
If your Hang on filter (HOF) is the big type, you can add in some ceramic rings, biohomes to improve the filtration. I run my tanks on Eheim 2041 HOF. i think they are very good. I always have my new fishes in a qurantine tank for up till 1 week, though its recommended for about 3 weeks, before putting them into the main tank. After you add the new comers, add some water conditioner to destress them and also add some food for the existing habitants![]()
thanks for your tip Terence.
Can I introduce the same quantity or more (since I'm breeding), and then condition the water, and check pH level after 1 hour of introducing? Reason is that I do not want the females to be worn out by the males (2 males and 2 females in tank now) and I intend to breed them.
The gravels I have are already rinsed in water after a few rinses. Is it ok that I add them into the tank with guppies now or should I put them in another tank first?
Will that affect the water condition for guppies? Or should I put the gravels in tank first, and let the conditioned water run on pump for 3 days before introducing fishes?
How do you tell when the fish has settled down (no more stressed) after adding water conditioner?
For quarantine tank, should it be set up with just pump without any plants?
My tank water has sea salt added; what should the ratio of salt vs litre (my tank is 18 litre)?
thanks again Terence.
I have a couple of plastic plants. Are these good for a guppy? Is it better to soak them for a day or 2 before adding into main tank?
Considering my tank size, would it be safe that I about 14 guppies into the tank, considering the amount of oxygen in water? Is air pump necessary for such a population?
Any plant recommendation for optimum breeding conditions?
Is this a good bubble filter for guppies as per attached?

Plastic plants are fine. I used that when i first started on guppies. Later i realised that live plants are better as they rid the water of nitrate and also nicer.
Is your tank 2ft? 14 guppies 2 ft no prob. If 1-1.5 ft may be a bit cramp. Use a more powerful filter and water change more frequent.
I usually get from bros here........
I guess about 8 adult guppies....
Select the best to breed in a separate tank.
I've just tested ammonia level of water in the guppy tank and it's pretty high! What can I do to lower it? Test kit used is API ammonia test kit but in their guide, they have recommended their own products such as Ammo Lock to detoxify harmful ammonia in water.
Ammonia reading was round 3.5...
I've used ceramic rings to replace the filter, coupled with the sponge. Should they be rinsed prior to use, and will this help improve water quality?
