Hi Tian85 I'm using Gex Shrimp and Plants soil for this setup. Though cheaper than ADA soil but still burns a hole for my pocket for the 8kg pack

Get a lid for your tank. My bichirs was dead because it commited sucide by jumping out of the tank.

You do know that the tank/filter is too small, setup is not suitable for those fish?

Yes Tian85 I have a lid on. I took if off to snap a few shots

Hi bryan yes, it was meant as a grow-out tank. Would a Gex M HOF suffice for my 2 feet tank? The one currently running's a Gex S HOF. I don't want an empty based tank so I got in the soil as substrate instead. Was the use of rosette plants and stones unsuitable for the bichirs? Please advise.

Bichirs are usually slow moving creatures but if they get spooked, they'll start trashing about stiring everything up. I would have done a simple african themed tank with anubias which are native, some driftwood and a thin layer of fine gravel.Filter wise I'd use an overhead filter box and cram it with media. Don't waste that expensive soil. Start another simple tank with the bichirs and go to town with this one.
