Hmm.. You looking for plants or mosses?

I would recommend either java fern of java moss. Both are low light requirement plants and mosses respectively and don't need chilled water although it does help.

but all in all they are hardy.

    hi shrimppaste!

Im currently using a 18w lighting, do you think that will be ok for hairgrass? does it need daily dose of co2? thank for ur recommendation by the way!

    brother gravyz,
please include your tank size. HC, hairgrass or glosso is out of the question if your tank is more than a feet long. You need at least 2wpg for the 3 plants mentioned. if you really wants nice green plant on the foreground, you can try to use moss. unless you wants to upgrade your light wattage.

    Hi eviltrain!

    Thanks for pointing out this. Im currently using a boyu tank (Dimensions: 30 (W) x 34 (L) x 37 (H)) 6 Gallons with 18W Daylight power compact!

Is the size/watts favourable to nurturing the hairgrass/glosso? thanks for the prompt replies!

Thats 37 litres. you only got like 1.8wpg. That is enough for hair grass. Usually for fore ground plant to spread well, you need at least 3wpg and some CO2. If not they will just grow vertically instead of spreading well enough to cover spaces.

You can try tennulus. I'm using it for my 2 footer and my CRS love to hide in it.

Or lilaeopsis is also good. Lilaeopsis is an alternative to tennelus. It grows slower meaning less maintenance. Or if you very patient can do Cryptocoryne Parva. In fact I ama lso facing the same thing. I am seeting up a low tech tank soon

Lilaeopsis is a good question to ask on Tuesdays cause that's when C328 brings them in. Every Tuesday. It's outside, in take out transparent boxes. A lot for only $5

It's very easy to differentiate. It's on wire mesh. If you look at the bottom, the roots are all linked together. Tenellus is more single pots.
