    Hi all

This is what my tank looked like before I dismantled it.

    Tank: 120cm x 50cm W x 60cm H (360L)
    Lighting: Aqua medic Aquastarlight T5 (54W x 4) 9hrs/day
Substrate: Aqua medic Terralit (approx. 2.5kg)
    Co: 2Kg bottle, 2 bubbles/sec
    Filter: Eheim 2217

As you can see, the annoying algae started to take over my hairgrass ... so I dismantled the tank and start again.

My hard drive decides to die and I lost all my files along with it. This is what my current tank looks like now. I ran into all kinds of problem with algae luckily my CRS was able to help me out and got rid of most of the BBA (I put in 200+ CRS) .

I'm pretty happy with the current tank. Now just waiting for the HC to spread and might add more rotala at the back.

    Any comments/critics welcome.

    Hubert.

Crystal Red Shrimp: I started with 26 shrimps then they breed like rabbits. I already sold 200+ but kept the rest for my display tank.

Re: Ups & downs of Hubert's tank

Its time for an update of my tank.

    Picture taken on 06-10-2009.

    Picture taken on 23-20-2009.

I'm struggling with the HC. It has stopped growing. I'm not sure whether the Rotala are taking up all the nutrients, or I'm not dosing enough fertilizers. The HC on the right side of the tank didn't grow much since the last update.

I have also added blyxa japonica to test out whether it will survive in my tank as I have bad experience in the past. What's the trick in growing blyxa? Mine looked ok for the first 4 weeks but now I noticed the leaves starting to turn yellow and the roots stopped growing. I think I add too many CRS, cos' some of them are trimming my anubias roots. Very hard to believe at first, considering how small their claws are and the thickness of the roots.

    Any comments/suggestion welcome

Noob Question: how do you secure the plants to the wood? do you have to take it out to tie?

Biofeedback: I used sewing thread to tie the plants. Fine fishing line can be used as well.
