they sell the fish locally in the US too?
Hello all.
Although I was fascinated by Apistogramma ever since I got into the hobby, I never really kept them until this past August where I purchased my first pair of Apistogramma elizabethae 'Super Red'.
Excuse the lousy pictures.
Male-
Female-
Pair-
I hope to get some flaring pictures later.

Nice pair you've got there!

I'm also surprised that I found them, they are very rare to find here (very pricey) and are usually imported from Glaser in Germany. That's why I jumped on the chance to buy them even though I had no experience with Apistogramma before.
Still you guys get the more rarer species
Thanks. Too bad the white sand washes out their colors.
Nice red belly,good catch.
Love all,Trust few,Do wrong to none
Usually from germany, the quality of the fish are good....
But expensive...![]()

Failure is just another new beginning
Here's a poor attempt at picturing the male flaring-
Ignore the white flecks, they're CO2 bubbles.
How do you guys get such nice pictures during flares?
Nice finnage! Great fish you have!

Someone commented my fish look young, how do I know if they're adult? Does it have to do with the lyretail of the male?
The male chases the female occasionally, does this mean he is ready to breed?
Your fish is a young adult and should be able to breed already. As they grow older, A.elizabethae males' tails will develop from a spade shape to a more lyrate one.
