This afternoon, I found my golden zebra loach (which I had for about a month) died with stomach slightly bloated and mouth open.

Earlier in the morning, I found it "resting" on the broad leaf of a plant near the water surface. As it is a bottom dweller, I find it odd for it to do that. I disturbed it and it swam to the bottom. A few hours later, it's dead.

All my other fishes, cory's, white cloud, SAE, female betta , rasboras are fine, black knife and zebra loach are fine.

I just installed a new canister filter the night before but I do not think water chemistry is the cause as all other fishes are fine.

Do you have fishes that died mysteriously before?

Yes bro, a few times of similar nature. Probably the fish ain't too healthy in the first place. God knows what these fishes went through till they arrive in our tank.

My apisto agassizzii alanquer male died after a week of purchase now left with the female. Was beautiful, flaring and eating well; but died mysteriously... all other fishes and apisto in the community tank is unaffected. So sad.

I have these platy fishes for 2 weeks already and all was healthy until this morning. I have been careful with water changes, dechlorine the water etc etc.

This morning I did a 10% water change as usual, half an hour later, all the platy are not like their active state, most are stationary or hiding between the plants.

I really dont know what I did wrong, as a beginner, this is very discouraging, i have no test kit to test the water as all these happen only this morning.

Perhaps it had some internal infectons that we cannot see.I also had a sunset platy in my 60cm aquarium. It was fine in the morning . In the afternoon, however, it started swimming in circles. Then , it sank to the bottom and died an hour later.

Re: You have fish that died mysteriously before?

You only have your fish for about 1 month. So I think the fish is not healthy to begin with. Just that we can't tell.

My experience is if the fish that I bought has survived for more than 2 months in my tank, it will survive for a long time more.

If you regular resident started dying, then something is not right with the water parameters.
