    Re: Selective breeding

As the name suggests, selective breeding is the act of selectively breeding for traits that you want.
A systematic approach on how to go about what you intend to do can be found here.

It is an extremely helpful beginner site.
    Hope it helps.

You're welcome. May I know what sort of selective breeding you're looking at?

Nothing really in particular or fanciful. For example, i got this line of ap.trifasciata which got very high dorsal fin, the edge of the dorsal is red now. Wanted to see whether can make the tail fin into red or more darker color.

bro, anything to share ? One thing about apisto is that the growth cycle is too long, unlike guppies or shrimps. ( well, some reported that caca mature in 3 months ).

Yup, wait till hair also turn white... Haahaa
Depends on the species also, some fast some slow grow rate.
To counter this problem must have a strong team with fiery passion.

    Re: Selective breeding

Yeah, I was the one who reported the 3 month growth.
I can prove it too. You just need constant feeding. For instance, when you're at home, feed them a few times.

    Re: Selective breeding

This will be more difficult if you are talking about those demanding Apistogramma line. Then again, look at what the German breeders produce..
