yah they are greedy pigs..... when you see growth slowing it's time to refeed.... but after a while they will start moving as the rhizome grows. I just had to uproot one big mama and replant just one of its off-shoots.
Taken 2 weeks after 28th March 2003. Check out the growth of the green Nuphar Japonica!!! Root monster aid or Crpyts Roots? I wonder.

wynx,
What's your foreground plant? Are they tenellus?
Dwarf Saggs... The middle is some Tennellus.

So is the Nuphar japonica good for a midground or background plant? Say my tank size is 5'x2' base.
Does the plant reach the surface like Lotus?

Well, I think mid ground to background should be fine. For me, I used it in the middle of the crazy saggs lawn to create an 'emergent' effect. I think I like the lime green color. Only complain I have now...tank too small and money no enuff to invest in a bigger one!

I think Nuphar japonica is OK for mid ground if your tank is 2ft in height .
Mine grow at around 1.5 ft. Gan used to have some in his planted tank outside which grow up to almost 2ft. Teo told me there are 2 types one bigger than the other.
I don't think it will grow at the surface like lotus. Have been keeping mine for half year. The leaves will big in size (almost 6 inches in length), tends to block lights for the lower plants. Like the colour, bright green
