the few things that can done, just to name one : is to stand there 24hr and make sure they don't go near each other with hands or a net.

I guess the best way is not to put them in one tank if you are afraid that they will fight to death or something.

The last 3 photos shows interesting changes in fin coloration on the Apistogramma bitaneiata, as discussed in dbcyeo's thread.

how big a tank are they in?? not quite healthy for them to carry on fighting on a regular basis....
