If i wanna control the water flow, do i adjust the on/off valve only on the "OUT" or "IN" or both on the canister?

If i push the valves for both "IN" and "OUT" to "off" while the canister is still connected to the electricity socket, will it be alright?
Coz when pushed to off, can hear the canister is still running but no water being take in and out of the canister coz already off.

How come sometimes alot of tiny bubbles being produced from the output rainbar(rainbar in water)? How do i solve it? The bubbles produced is it related to the surface skimmer? Coz the surface skimmer more or less absorb some air from the surroundings when the water flow into it.

only control the flow using the OUT valve, the IN valve should be fully open at all times.

as for bubbles, they could possibly be from the surface skimmer, but the Eheim does suffer a seal problem such that air may seep into the cannister and comes out at the output. Use the jel provided to make a tight seal when you close the cannister.

no no, you spread the vaseline evenly and thinly along the rubber seal, then close the cover, doesn't harm anything.

Air bubbles get trapped initially in the cannister. Try tilting the cannister forward and back to force the bubbles out. Once completely ejected, should have none from rainbar. Alternatively, fill cannister to brim before closing it to leave no room for bubbles.[]

if you're going to prime it with your lungs, keep the cannister clear of any water. you prime it by sucking on the out tube, suck firmly but gently. btw you don't have to kiss the tubing if you practice with a good wet airproof fist. you can see the water coming into the in tube and flow into the cannister, it will continue without you sucking as per siphon effect. Now connect the out tube to the rainbar (or whatever you're using). BTW make sure both in and out valves are fully open! now wait for the water to fill the cannister completely and into the out tube, now turn on the power to the filter. You now have a running filter and there should be no bubbles left inside.

If you have water in the in and out tubes (by closing the valves and trapping them there), you can also start the filter by filling it completely with water and then closing the lid. Once you connect the valve assembly onto the cannister, open the IN valve, start the power, and open the OUT valve. Your cannister should start running, and whatever bubbles trapped in there should be cleared soon.

    yah, practice makes perfect [:]

btw the second method is useful when you are only cleaning the filter without dismantling the tubings. If you're getting new tubings (my current adopted practice) then the first method is preferred.

U can use the new Eheim installation set for the input. Helps alot in priming the filter without using lung power.
