    the situation- i have bought a big lava rock from LFS last weekend.. when i came back.. i soak in water and scrab it.. after a while the water turn black.. i did this process for 4-5 time.. and i notice the lava rock is getting smaller.. am i doing it the right way?

    how do i make sure my rock is clean for my fish before i intro it into the tank..

    just wash and sock in in water for 2 days then put to your tank.

    are you sure you have lava rock? normally lava rock is hard and sharp with lots of tiny holes.

    upz.. i got it from c328.. with a tag lava rock.. red in colour.. together with all the driftwood.. correct ma?

    just try boiling it for 5 mins, and left it to cool for few days. change the water if the rock still clouds the water. if the problem remains. throw the rock.

    Usually if you wash the lava rock, small fragment of the rock will disintegrate. As for the black water, maybe it's coming for the dirt as accumulated on the lava rock. Rinse and soak the rock till the water become clear will do.

    is it because of the brush i use? i scrubing it then the water will turn black..
