Thanks for the quick reply.
I've been to both Polyart and C328. Polyart has 3 partitions of mixed "African Cichlids". C328 has one. No one at either place has any clue as to what they have in their tanks.
Is Seaview any different?
BTW, the best I've seen are: Qian Hu (but a bit expensive) and Cichlid Aquarium Supplies (next to Qian Hu) -- but CAS does not really have display tanks -- they've got a good supply of fish, though.
Question for the veterans: Are Malawi cichlids sort of out-of-fashion now?
Maybe can give Ben at Wu Hu (Tiong Bahru) a call and check on his stock status.
Sorry to be such a downer ... but I was recently at Ben's ... and he told me he's given up on Malawis (they kill each other too much, so the tanks are hard to manage) ... encouraging me to focus of Tanganyikas instead... I'll probably do that in my next tank.
For now at least, WuHu doesn't carry Malawi cichlids.
I should have just listed which LFSs I've checked out in my original post:
Biotope - no Malawis - "we import wild fish from the Amazon, Tanganyika and Rivers of Borneo."
C328 - one tank partition - "Mixed African Cichlids"
Cichlid Aquarium Supplies - breeding ponds
Colourful Tropical - no Malawi cichlids
Nature - no Malawi cichlids
Polyart - one tank - "Mixed African Cichlids"
Qian Hu - multiple tanks
Wu Hu - no Malawi cichlids
... I think that's it.
FYI.
