Maybe you could modify a standard breeding trap for this purpose. Look for one without holes or gaps in the side panels.
Hi
I've got a 2x1x1.5 glass tank which I want to use for a low-tech low-maintenance Walstad tank. But, I don't have space for an external canister or hang-on filters (tank sides and back are constrained by walls and other obstructions) and also don't want to buy internal power filters because of limited filtration capacity. Hence I thought it would be sweet if I could DIY an Internal Overflow Sump (IOS) into the tank.
Does anyone have any "lobang" for cheap glass in the east? Maybe 4mm or 6mm. Or should I get perspex/acrylic and silicone them in place?
I will try to come up with the design on my own. Perhaps take up only 4 inches of one side, so I'll get 20 inches of length to scape with. This way, the sump can hold approximately 9 litres of water, and if I can squeeze out 5.5-7 litres for media, I'd have excellent bio-filtration capacity.
If anyone has other solutions for an internal overflow sump (e.g. hang-on inside the tank) could you share your experience? Ideally, I'd want the only piece of equipment in the IOS tank to be a small return pump.
Thanks!
Yecch!
