sorry, have you calibrated the pen yet? just checking
Hi all,
I have a 2ft tank running for the past 1.5years, using magicsoil, been using co2 but co2 tank empty these few days. All rocks have been in the tank all time and no additional soil added.
I have got a ph pen recently and decided to test in on my tank. To my surprise i have got 4 for my ph (that explains why shrimps don't make it in my tank, even malayan and cherries). ph have been dropping all the time.
Any one can advice?

hang a bag of coral chips into the tank over night and check the pH in the morning.
it should have gone up.
take it out and give your fishes some time to get used to the new higher pH, then hang the coral chips in again until your desired pH is reached.
After that its monitoring and troubleshooting on why the pH crashed.
If everythings in your tank is old, then ph will be down. Change / add a bit of water, put 5 pieces of coral chip permanent in the water and monitor ph. If ph high remove one or 2 then monitor again. When ph is what u want then stop.
Treat your fishes like your baby. The sign and symptom is the same but cannot talk.
Go nature
ph went up to 4.7 after some coral chips are in...will have to add in some more until it reaches 6.8
