i hav being growing 2 wire mesh of riccias for a week, they are spouted abt 0.5cm from the mesh. but why no bubbles?
i place them in a 1 1/2 feet(30 litres) tank with 2 x 11w pl lights and 1 bps of CO2. added jbl liquid fert and Bioplast iron weekly. filter = 300 litres/hour internal filter.

is my lights strong enough? or the flow rate affecting the formation of bubbles. pls advise wat need to be done, need to hav bubbles to get license (wife's one lah) for future bigger planted tanks. thks in advance.....

You would need to know your pH and KH to determine whether you have sufficient CO2 or not...bubbles/second are not the way to determine how much CO2...Oh, by the way is your CO2 set DIY or pressurised system?

Ok Fufu, let's see if we can help you dapat your lay-sen. HIMO:

300LPH is a bit high for 30 litres of water. Gwee is right, check your CO2. Riccia needs good CO2. To confirm if light is your problem, try to bring your mesh of Riccia closer to the lights with no blockage. Make sure CO2 and ferts are right.

i will be changing the filter to eden 306 tonite ( i suspect the flow rate is too strong to make bubble accumulate on riccia).

bty i'm using a co2 cannister with a manual regulator. as i am new to this, dunno how to measure co2 level in my tank. thks all to helpin me out. pls contribute more ideas for me to try out over the weekend. thks in advance again.

You need a CO2 level of about 20ppm.

Do you have a pH and KH test kit? You need to use them to measure your pH and KH in order to ascertain the amount of CO2 you have in your them. There is a pH/KH/CO2 table in www.dennerle.com that you can use.

Let's just say your chances of getting that lay-sen is higher than mine. Remember to check you CO2. Can't you do something with the existing pump to slow the LPH instead of spending on another?

BTW, if you dapat your license, make sure you buy a big tank, don't be like me got license don't know how to make use.

Check the link in PeterGwee's post. It would show you how to calculate the CO2 level by measuring the pH and kH level.
    Cheers!!

Do mini riccia bubbles the way the normal ones does?
Everything should be made as simple as possible...but not one bit simpler.

Shud be. My mini riccia is bubbling.
