    hi guys,

i used to have mini riccia tied to driftwood and i did some trimmings inside the tank. My tank at that time was growing HC too. Now that i had removed the driftwood and i had grown a nice lawn, i have problems mini riccia growing among my HC! had been trying to remove it manually.. even accumulated up to a few tubs of it.

does any bros here have similar frustrations or suggestions to remove it besides pulling up everything n regrowing?

    Cheers

You may want to try this.

Use Seachem Excel, and blast the riccia with a syringe amongst the HC, they will melt away after a few days. The least is it worked for me, however, they will come back eventually due to some bits and pieces buried somewhere.

The lack of response is very telling.

I'm making an assumption from what I understand from your post... that at one removal, you can accumulate several tubs. This means you do a major removal once in a while?

If so, you'll never rid yourself of Riccia. If you let it amass and then remove, you're probably leaving quite a fair bit hidden between the other plants. You need to remove them frequently, perhaps weekly. Every week remove every strand you can see... no matter how little. You should start to see less of them after a few weeks... but the process can go on for a few months.

never try mini riccia before, but normal riccia is floating plant, so when you cut, the cutting will float. Thus it is easy to clean.
