If all goes well, maybe within the next 2 weeks. I would remove the catfishes, but keep the guppies. They are good as dither fishes. If the female is receptive, you might get another spawning really soon. Just condition the parents well with good food. Water changes help too, and if necessary, get some Blackwater Extract.

Since your pair has bonded, it shouldn't be too difficult to get them into spawning mood again.

Really aprreciate for the advice, bro stormhawk.

I have removed all the catfish from the tank. Also added blackwater & daily WC.

Currently the female is hiding in the glass vase still with her spawning dress. Seems like she was waiting for the male to go in.

Hi, not too sure whether transparent glass vase is a good idea.

The male may have problem getting into the vase or may try to fertilize the eggs from outside.

Would suggest that you fill up the vase and put in another clay type flower pot.

Yup I think they get more confused with the glass vase. They can't really understand that it is glass and may have problems getting in and out. Also they most probably would not feel secure to spawn in it as its too bright in the vase.

It is not unusual for apisto pairs to have several unsuccessful spawning attempts before they succeed. The eggs take about three days to hatch so if the female is out of the cave before then it is likely that she ate the eggs. This can be for many reasons and the best thing to do is wait. It sounds to me like you are on track.

Thanks for all the advice & encouragement, still lots of things to learn on rearing apistos.

Saw lots of fries today...... but its from the trio of guppys, not the apisto pair.

Got a pair of Agassizii Amadeus from bro stonespot in AQ, absolutely irresistable fishes
