    HI Everyone,

Can anyone tell me if Fissiden and Mini Pellia are considered mosses? Do they grow by means of spores as well? I am asking cause I am going to try something. So would really appreciate it if someone can answer my question.

The other question is, would moss stick on rocks? I mean I see mosses on rocks and on side of drains all the time but why is it that mosses like Taiwan, etc cannot stick onto woods and rock?? Thanks!!

Lastly, I know pellia can stick, how about fissiden?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi there Shrimppaste,
Fissidens can stick at least those in the market now.[annoying to pronounce but there is an 's' ]
    They are considered mosses.
Mini Pellia is a liverwort and not a moss.
I don't think they grow by spores, at least not as well as by multiplying.

Not all mosses stick. Taiwan moss does.

All of the above mosses that you have mentioned will stick to rock or dirftwood but provided you first secured it onto the rock or driftwood. If they are blown away then too bad. From my experience, my fissiden, mini-pelia and christmas moss that crawl on the base do even stick onto the soil gravel.

DUYACC, If you want it to stick you should lay a thin layer and let it grow off the wood or stone.
The information about sticking applies more to mosses grown in water. Grown out of water more species can stick if I'm not mistaken.
