    Can coral sand be used for planted?

    tank size= 1.5ft x 1 ft x 1 ft
    light=18~20 watt

    Plants that i want have:
    HC/HG
    Riccia (prbbly cannot right?)

    want to have co2,but budget not very high,roughly how much is a 1L co2 set?
    If only hc/hg then dont need co2?

    Thanks,please advise.

    Coral sand will affect ph i dont reccomend using it. Look for aqua soil such as ADA amazonia or GEX red bag

    Cheapest c02 i found is at NA $75 for manual regulator and $125 for "solendior" regulator

    Sorry not sure how to spell name of electrical regulator correctly

    Actually HC has less chance then riccia to survive without c02. Riccia and HG can survive in low tech set ups put chances are not high.

    Also your lighting is not enough for a high tech set up with injected c02.
    For a tank your size.
    Cheers,
    JJ

    18 to 20 watts is not enough for HC at least you Need 3 to 4 watts per gallon or more to grow without a chiller. The more cooler the water the faster they grow. Correct me if I'm wrong.
