Will too much spot fertilization harm the plants? Eg is if I insert much more fertilizer tabs into the gravel than reccommended. Say 2 or 3 times more.
Heard that land plants will get "burned" by excessive dosage of fert. Never heard anything about this for aquatic plants aside from the possibilty of inducing more algae growth.

I once set up a tank with a base fertiliser that gave me problem. I am not sure if it was "too fertile". But it caused all my plants to melt within a week.

If you search the internet, you can find articles that say excess of certain nutrients block the uptake of others.

Some fertiliser tabs also claim to be those "slow releasing" type causing no problem of excess.

If you do try putting more fertiliser sticks on the plants, let us know the results.

    hard qn to answer
but i've been using bioplast's terraminerals NEAT (ie no mixing, when i SHOULD be.....) at an overkill ratio of 6:1 (only needed 2 boxes for my tank but got 12 instead) and the plants don't really care
once they hit the bottom, pop they go
