Hi this thread is quite old, so I don't know whether you're still looking for them but I just saw these available at Y934. All three sizes of S, M and L.

Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has seen this particular GEX HOB/F filter for sale in any local LFS?

It's a super slim filter, could be great for small tanks with limited space. Comes in S/M/L sizes. The M has 3 pads, L has 4 pads.

Do you guys use the standard cartridge or do you place other filter media inside?
The cartridge is actually with active carbon inside. I will filled the hof with ceramic rings and use a stainless steel mesh and filter sponge just before the out flow of the hof to prevent any debries from entering the tank again.

Thanks for all the posts. I finally saw them for sale at C328 about a month ago. I haven't bought one but seeing one in operation at Green Chapter showed that it was a decent and fairly quiet filter.

Using a small one for my 2 feet, it was intended as a backup when my canister blew a leak, but since it's working so well, I am not changing it.

Anyone know where got sell replacement filter pads? C328 no stock

Hi Ariel, can you PM me the cost of the filter pads? I went there last month to try to get some but the staff there told me they are not selling these and told me to just use sponge and cut to size will do the job...thanks...

Hi,
What size is good for 1ft tank?
Will the flow rate be too strong?
Sufficient bioload?

the small one is pretty powerful for a 1 foot, I think the run of the mill HOF less than a red note is good enough for a 1 foot.

I used the L size for a 1.5ft tank. The flow rate isn't too overwhelming especially if you are going to pack in extra sponge pad in additional to the filter pad.
too bad the images couldn't show

Does anyone have any pictures to show how u all put in other media storages rather than the filter pads that was being provided? And i would like to know if the filter pad have to be changed monthly since it is activated carbon. TIA.

Have been using the same pads for 5 months running, no side effect except for zero algae, shrimps breeding and fat amber tetras. I do rinse and scrub the pads every 3 weeks. Saying that, I will probably buy a pair of new pads when I go by seaview.
