Potted plant with metal rings

do i have to remove the metal ring that came together with the potted plants before i plant it in my tank or i can just put the plant in without removing the metal ring?will it affect my water in long run?

Hi I think the metal ring your are referring to is the lead piece. It acts as a weight to hold down the plant so that it does not float up.

I will always take out the lead piece because I will plant the plants into the sand to hold it down instead of relying on the lead. Also the lead piece may corrode over time and rust.
