Hi all, just to share my new setup. Transferred my apisto from a 1ft tank to a partition 2ft tank. Sadly my first pair of male trifasciata had been eaten up by my bro's lobster, now only left with the female trifasciata and new viejita. Can't resist myself from buying.

Now using ada soil to lower pH instead of using lava rocks. My trifasciata seems to be happier after switching to ada soil instead of dennerle sand.

Left: White Lobster , Middle: Female Trifasciata, Right: Viejita

Total of 3 filters filtering this tank. Hang on filter covering the left, bubble filter covering the middle and small canister filter covering both middle and right.

This male is always terrorising the female, so cannot get a shot of her. If you are sharp enough can see her head under the coconut shell.

If anyone is interested in her please do let me know. She is lonely now. Not sure if I should mix her with the viejita as the male seems to like her.

    Hey

Last week went to biotope saw one pair of viejita there with very nice red colour on the tail area, think it is not the normal type of Viejita, not sure it is still there. if you keen can go down have a look.

I think trifasciata should be quite common in shops like C328 and Y618. Biotope might have them too. You should be able to get a replacement male pretty easily.

Both my pairs of apisto are from biotope. So far they have the best conditions in the shop for these fishes. I was hesitating to get the adult pair or this young pair as that adult pair have really nice coloring. But this young ones look promising so in the end i chose this.

I tried mixing them together, the male seemed to love her. Brushing their bodies against each other and no biting involved, but the 2 females were fighting and biting each other thats why I didn't put them in the same partition.

I don't think so, previously she was on very good terms with the male. But too bad. Or maybe you are right, i'm still quite newbie in apisto.

Anyone tried getting from apistoworldhk before?

The female trifasciata's dorsal seems to be extended from the picture.

Nice set up altezza. I'll probably switch to the same set-up real soon. Running out of space and 2 x 1ft tanks are troublesome.
Probably going to rely on a low-type 2ft tank (60 x 30 x 26 cm) with dividers, since these apistos don't really need a deep tank.

Yeah, for me even though i split it into 3 parts there are still lots of space for them to swim around due to the height of the 2ft tank. Try to get the dividers without holes, unless your apisto are pretty large in size. In my case both female apisto is still quite small resulting in those blue filter sponge I used to block out the holes so that they can't swim from partition to partition.

The trifasciata looks like a female to me.

    @johnlim
You can find a steady supply of apistos at C328 and Biotope aquarium. Look for their location under AQ's Fish Shop Directory right under AQ's banner.

We are not advisable to reveal price of livestock on the forum.
Please try not to ask so openly.

Biotope is located at marsiling(woodlands). You can call the shop if you want to check out the pricing. very reasonable price considering the conditions they are house in.
