unfortunately it normally will go to atmospere instead of mix with water. You need to find a method to mix it with water.
You can actually use carbonated water, Amano was using that in his early days.

yeah i have been adding that to my new tank for the past 2 days but then in the long run it will be much more expensive. Anyone has any budget methods to inject CO2?
DIY CO2. Presurize CO2 is not expensive in the long run. The expensive part is the initial when you buying the equipment.
CO2 tablets. 3 to 4 bucks for 3 packets. each packet contains like about 8 tablets.
its funny how the gf always nags when purchasing at the LFS, but displays so much interest in the tank at home. waaaa the shrimp so cuteeeee, buy a few more friends for them leh.... - .-
But what are the dosages like for a 1ft cube tank?
CO2 table does not really work, can't control the CO2 rate
well, thats the down side to the tablets la. it releases pretty quickly. and thats it. i just popped a few in my tank since i set it up. just to kick start everything. of course not all at one go lol.
i think its not really the size only, it depends on how heavily planted ur tank is ba

better using seachem excel then tablet
hi i have just decided to buy a 2nd hand CO2 tank from a fellow member here at AQ. its quite cheap as compared to buying first hand and in the long run compared to constant dosing of seachem and soda water. but as i have plans of getting a 2nd tank is it possible for one tank to supply CO2 to 2 seperate tanks?
There is something known as a CO2 splitter for your case.

Thats nice to know. Thanks. But what do i need to buy after installing the splitter? Because i have already bought a set of tank, regulator and bubble counter. do i need another regulator and bubble counter?
Since you have a 2 way splitter, the bubble rate is already controlled by the regulator. You can adjust the splitter's valve to control the bubble rate even further. I think all you need is a 2nd bubble counter for the 2nd tank (i.e. 2 bubble counters, 1 per tank) to control your bubble rate per tank.
However, you stated that your tank is 1 ft? I'd go with DIY CO2 like the Hagen NutraFin thing. Cheap cost and you can mix the CO2 mixture when the bubble rate gets lesser and lesser.

ok pardon me for being abit slow here. so just to clarify the steps. i attach the splitter to the regulator and later just buy another counter and diffuser to attach to the splitter right? because i got the tank and regulator at quite a good price as compared to gettin first hand thats why i decided to go ahead and commit to setting up a CO2 tank. Anyone can advise on the price of the spiltter?
Yes, basically 1 bubble counter per splitter end. In your case 2, if you need to use for 2 tanks with a 2-way splitter. It is easier to use a solenoid regulator, so you can time the CO2 injection into the tank using a timer, thus making it start operation at the same time as your lights go into action.
I don't know the cost of the splitter, but it should be less than $50. You can get it at most shops that sell CO2 gear. I'd advise you to pay a visit to NA, and ask regarding the use of the splitter. Bring down your regulator and I think Mr Chan will gladly help you to fix the splitter on the regulator.

ok noted but where is na? i live near masiling so maybe i can go biotope?
Yup you can ask Biotope as well. They have those ADA stuff, and other brands if you want. Should be no problem to get help with the splitter issue.
NA is Nature Aquarium, along Upper Thomson? Road in the Balestier area. Just across from Thomson Medical Centre.

ok thanks for the tip i will drop by later to see if they can help me. thanks
If remember correctly, 2 splinter around $25 and 3 splitter around $35
Once I tried to do the following:
CO2 Tank with regulator, connected to a plastic piping, about 4-5 taps on the piping, roughly like taller than two storey 2 ft tanks, rectangular on each side, L Shaped cornering.
Result: Pop! goes the taps.
So if you want to do pipping, do get pvc pipes, si-lian, white tapes (umm..how you spell that? the industrial grade glue), etc. the ones for regular plumbing.
