found that putting in any reactors in my tank was too obtrusive and using diffusers/atomisers seems to very wasteful on co2
dont seem to find any value for money inline co2 reactors
so finally decide to DIY something up,
relatively simple, completed setting it up in 5mins

    Re: DIY Co2 inline reactor

i would advise putting a container below the reactor. Pressure of the water from the filter's outflow may loosen the lower cap of the reactor over time.

Not that any container is of any help to contain all the water if the lower cap becomes loose unless its capacity is bigger than your tank. haha

But it'll give you that little bit more time to react if it ever happens. Cheers

i used thread seal tape to wrap it, followed by applying silicon sealant on the cap joints. hopefully it doesnt leak.

it seems to be holding up very well, cant feel any moisture on the exterior of the reactor.
hmmmm just to be safe i'll add another layer of sillicone sealent

the pipes/co3 tube "may" losen in due time, you might want to ensure that does not happen. (Had a joke when setting up ISTA mixmax at friend's place, the air tube popped out and i panic lol.)

    Re: DIY CO2 inline reactor

Look dangerous. I will highlight possible areas.

    1. There should be an adjusting knob at the CO2 regulator. Missing in action in the pict.
    2. I think the tubbings are too long.
    3. Base on pict. 1 and 2, over time, the diffuser will not stick to the cabinet. Because the right filter tube is short, it will not drop.
    4. Base on pict. 1 and 2, the weakest link should be the CO2 diffuser. If it is placed in the water there wll be some water pressure to contain it but putting outside is a totally different thing. I think it will pop if you over-tune the CO2 output. Moreover you have two stress points on the diffuser.
    5. Normally for external filters, we will use white tape (one about 10-20cents) to tie the end of the big tubes before inserting. This is not currently not in use by you.
    6. Touchwood, but should the diffuser pop, it will not blow the cabinet since you have a hole behind. Water leaks will flow out to the sockets behind, causing a power trip of your entire house.

Hope you seriously re-consider this setup again.
