It is. But last time I found a Taiwanese fish med was made of formalin, in normal fish shop. I used it for preserving fish(if that is your purpose). But it was expensive, SGD 7 or something for 80 or 100ml, and finish fast if used for preservation. If using it to cure fish disease then not so costy.
I am in China now, over here, 500ml 40% formaldehyde solution cost only SGD 1.5, and I dilute to 4% to process specimens.
Formalin is a restricted chemical requiring some sort of license. I'm locking down the thread
