Saw this Hagen EDGE tank selling in a pet shop in Novena Sq.
Price is in the region of $260-280.
Anyone have any feedback on this kind of tank?
What do you guys think of this design? Cool?

I have not the chance to try out this tank but from looking at various photos in the net, it may be used for low lighting planted tank. Accessibility to the inner parts of the tank might pose a problem as I see that the top glass is fixed to the tank.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

Yup, i saw the problem with the top. The opening is about the size of 5"x4". accessing the tank is a bit tight.
I wonder with the price of $260++, would it be too pricy... But it certainly looks cool.

Yup, it look cool, stylo milo. But accessibility is important to me as I have large body parts that hate to get stuck.....

I don't think the lamp is suitable for planted tank, but it looks very sleek!

Wow I didn't realize they brought this tank into Singapore. I'd seen pictures before and it does look really cool.

I wonder how practical it would be to run this tank in our climate without a chiller though, seems like its a nice little greenhouse.

And I shudder at the thought of removing the substrate from the tank when you decide to redo it, as well as getting to algae growing in some spots..eeeee

Re: Hagen EDGE Tank. Any feedbacks?

I would say that it is very stylish, but it might be wiser to wait for other tank sets to appear. The Kotobuki tank set I saw during the last Aquarama was beautiful. Too bad I didn't get one.

Like the others have said. It seems a little troublesome to do maintenance in, and the lighting may be insufficient. However, as per lighting issues, you can always add in more light sets to the side or elsewhere, or rely on the room lighting for additional light.

A 43 cm tank is just slightly shorter than 1.5 ft. So I think the light set that comes with it might just be sufficient for lighting purposes. I don't see people keeping other plants in there except mosses and ferns.

hey.. maybe the top part is move able and it small tank should be manageable but low voltage halogen may not be suitable for planted.

Re: Hagen EDGE Tank. Any feedbacks?

Yes, they use 2pcs of MR16 halogen bulbs to power as lighting. I didn't see any FANs. So the green house effects may happen, I guess. The top is a mesh netting design and it is removable for maintenance.
So, stylish design or practicalilty use..... and the price tag... Would this be a good buy?

Re: Hagen EDGE Tank. Any feedbacks?

I would say no. Stylish yes, but not practical for our climate, unless you change the halogen bulbs to something that creates less heat. A little DIY might be in order, should you decide to get this set. Maybe add in some cooling fans, if you decide to stay with the bulbs.

For that price, getting a proper tank set with a hood that you can lift up is probably more worthwhile in the long run.

http://www.kotobuki-kogei.co.jp/product/?cid=99 <-- this was the one I saw at Aquarama. Costs less than that Hagen product (a set went for like $70? during Aquarama), and somewhat more stylish, at least to me.

You could probably custom order an almost identical tank or slightly improved version for the same price

design is unique , but i find its quite funny just placing it on table , quite bulky looking , perhaps incorporate it into a false wall then it will look like a tank just sticking out the wall
