Bought this pair yesterday, and finally was able to take some pictures...

Not that easy to capture shots of them, probably because they are not really used to the tank yet, and hide more.

    Nice catch bro.

Last I got a pair agassizii Red from wuhu too. Spawned after 1 week in my tank with feeding of frozen BW & daphine

Hope to hear good news from you.

Thanks bro, but they seem more shy than the A. Nijsenni. They prefer hiding in corners and sides...

I presume they have yet to settle down just after 2 days, give them some time. Maybe next week they will give you a surpise

    Hi Bro

Think that is because they are still new to the environment, give them about a week to get familiar with the new surounding. Important thing is that this pair can get along

Yup, the pair is getting along very very well... sometimes one will tag along the other swimming around the tank... Guess I should not add another female then?

    Re: Apistogramma agassizii "Red"

Well they need to bond first before spawning. So adding another female might not be useful.

Some other fishes in the tank like tetras to act as dither fish is good for the apistos. But if too many pieces then apisto parents might not be able to protect their brood of eggs. Remembered I read somewhere that some fish species can co-ordinate very well between them to steal others' eggs

Yup, currently thinking of a solution... the cherry barbs and tetras clear the smaller food particles really fast though... now they might be a conspiring gang of "robbers"...

How big is your office tank? Maybe you can get a new male A.nijsenni & put together with your female nijsenni, then you can get to see them everyday working day.

It's a 1.5' tank with hof... Have to see how my management decides on the long holidays 1st.... don't want them to go hungry...

Thereafter, have to juggle the rest of the occupants...

    Re: Apistogramma agassizii "Red"

Not to worry on their food over the weekends or even long weekends, they can go without food for 1 week.

I also had a 1.5 footer on my workdesk. Once I took leave & they went without food for 5 days, but they are all still alive when I return. Now I have my aggazzi red pair inside with 2 pair of guppies. Today the guppies dropped 18 frys, hopefully can induce the apisto to spawn too. This morning when I observed the female aggazzi has put on her spawning dress

    Re: Apistogramma agassizii "Red"

Reached home today and find that the female looked especially yellow today, hope it is not my imagination. However, the male is chasing everyone away from him, tetras, cherry barbs, and even the female.
