    Nice tank!

I once saw my CPO catch and ate a neon tetra and on another occasion a cherry shrimp.

Any similar experiences for your tank?

    Thanks bro.

Yes, I've had similar experience. However, it's very seldom. One of the reason apart from nicer design for my rescaping is that I provide a higer ground for the shrimps to be in. It's working as I see all my shrimps hanging around the moss area on BW and along the higher branches. My CPOs are usually on ground level and thus have less chance to meet the shrimps.

Occasionally, my monkeylish CPOs climb up the BW to say hello to the shrimps!

Nicely done bro, at my side, the CPOs are very very good climbers. Thus, count your shrimps often.

    Morning AM, Bro Isk,
Ready admire your CPO Tank . I had tried a few time keeping CPO and its can own last maximum 3 weeks. Appreciated you can give some advise of your CPO Tank Set Up, eg: Tank Size, Water Parameters, Temperature etc.

    Thanks & Regards.

    Re: My CPO Tank Diary!

Morning Malmah, It's nice getting your great comment early in the morning. Thanks .
My setup is very very simple. The below are the specs of my tank:

    1.5 ft five plan tank
    Water 6.5 PH
temp is around 20 degree at night and 24 in day.
    HOF from c328 @ $8

I felt that my CPOs are doing well because they are in really lousy condition before due to my stupidness.

I used to rear them in very low water level with uneven gravel level for them to climb up to breathe. There were no lights no filter etc. After I realise my serious mistake , I've bring them back to a normal condition however, I think they feel really much much better and can thrive in this condition. It's like a person from a third world country that has migrated to a first world country.

Please do not do what I did as this is really not advisable and the CPOs will suffer.

Bro Isk, Thanks for the prompt reply and advise. Your tank 20 deg C at night and 24 Deg during day! Do you run with a Chiller?

    Hi bro,
it's running in an air con room at night. In the day its normal but temperature is still cold as my room is never exposed to surrounding heat and sunlight thus getting a 24 degree tempreture(tank light is off). However, for CPO it's alright in normal room tempreture. Don't think a chiller is neccessary.

A naughty CPO just got his claws on a berried green shrimp. The shrimp was already dead and head has been nibbled off when I saw them. I quickly scoop up the dead shrimp to prevent them from thinking that shrimps are their food and developed the hunger for shrimps.

really happens occasionally. This is like the 2nd shrimp out don't know how many months.

its by their nature they will hunt for things to eat. You cant change what is called nature. What i can really suggest u to do is to take out yr shrimps. Want cpo then cpo all the way else shrimps all the way.
If keeping Exotic shrimps are easy then there will not be Exotic prices.

Introduced new friend to my CPO tank!
3 cory namely panda, white and leapord.
    10 bee shrimps from c328.

    12/12
My effort for the shrimps to enjoy lights and moss at the top instead of being at the bottom with my naughty cpos worked out!

Self DIY another place for shrimps to chill out. just introduce. thus, only 1 shrimp found it... I'm sure within hours it will be filled with them.

    Re: My CPO Tank Diary!

    hi isk!

nice to see that there's a thread for CPO. I tried to keep CPO before. Used to have them in my 2ft neon tetra tank but they lasted for a mth or less. Not sure what's wrong I give up on keeping them. I like the orange color and the fact that it's "mini lobster" appearance makes it cute... how long have your cpos been with you?? Anyway, what's the exact term for CPO? Anyone? I would like to search and read up more on the net. I'm tempted to setup a 30cm tank for my room.

    regards

If you took note of Justin's advise, you wouldn't have added more shrimps into your tank. From many other advise from multiple forums, you appears stubbon and refuse to heed advise.

What is your intention for the tank? A united nations of inverts, a wonderland of experiment, a rojak, etc? I believe many invert hobbyist wouldn't keep adding different spieces into a tank or to change the scape every now and then. When will you add in an arowana, or goldfish?

Maybe you can rename this as, your Rojak Tank instead of CPO tank. As far as I feel, if it's a CPO tank, there will be almost no other lives except CPO.

Hi thank you. Differentiating sex for CPO is just like normal crayfish , just that CPO has very small "hockey stick" at it's stomach area, need to shine light on it to see clearly.

As for how to identify sex for crayfish, just google or find threads in this forum. There are many of it, even with pictures.
