Hi all, today i went to a LFS to check up on this brand as many people tell me that Aqua Tornado Fan is the best fan among all..

But when i was at the shop and i try the Fan compare to ANS or other brand fan.. Its so much stronger compare to Tornado.. And the price of the Tornado is like WAH!

But sound wise.. The Tornado is so much silence...

Can tell me which is the best fan i should get.. Its for my 2 ft tank..

    Re: Tornado Fan

There's other cooling fans from the Japanese brands as well. I've seen both the GEX and Kotobuki ones and they are fairly quiet. Price-wise, a little steep, but alright for their construction I guess. There's other brands as well, from CyberAqua etc.

    See below for links:
http://www.kotobuki-kogei.co.jp/product/?cid=78 (use Google or something to translate)
    http://www.gex-fp.co.jp/fish/catalog/denshi/index.html (go to page 62)

I can't find a link for the CyberAqua thing, but it's possibly able to find a picture within AQ. Use the search function.

Of all the aquarium fans, you can probably DIY a super powerful one just using PC cooling fans.

    Re: Tornado Fan

Thanks for the link.. I have think of DIY my own Fan.. But when i start thinking about running the wiring and get the Fan Mount.. I feel why not just buy from LFS...

The best fan i come across so far which i use before on my 3 ft tank was those selling for human use.. Those clip on type.. Diameter abt 10 - 12inches.. super powerful!!

    But too bulky...

But i serious wanna know the feedback about using Tornado.. I heard many say that they can reached a temp of 26 - 27.. Which i feel is already Good..

As i am currently using ANS which my temp is always at 28 - 29..

    Re: Tornado Fan

I used Tornado for my 2ft before, very quiet and powerful and I'm happy with it. But due to the water evaporation, i changed to a chiller instead. IMO, the temp level with fan very much depend on the room temperature. If it's a hot day, you'll still get higher temp for your tank even with the fan on and vice versa.

    Re: Tornado Fan

Eddy is correct. The speed of evaporation increases as your fan speed increases. The angle you direct the output of the fan too is just as important I think. Ambient temperature in the room affects the eventual temperature of the tank, so nothing is more efficient than a chiller for tanks past 2 ft.

I remember seeing a tank once, where the guy directed his fan to blow outwards, through the hood. His idea was to push the hot air heated up by the proximity of the lights to the water surface, and out into the open. Worked I think, because the tank was showing 26-27 deg C.

What others say, may not be what you get, in terms of temperature drop via the fans. I never used the Tornado before, but looking at the set-up in pictures on Google, it seems more difficult to clean, if dust starts to build up at the inlet and outlet.

The Japanese ones, and I think the Cyber Aqua fan, are easier to clean from what I can see.

Yes i strongly agree that the surroundings plays a very important role in temp...

The reason why im not into chiller is bcos of , i have too many tanks at home and all r running on fan.. If i run all by chiller.. OMG! Thats a nuclear !!

so maybe cheaper if you put all your tank in one room and put aircon in that room
