    Hi all,

Nice to read some of the old timers are still here.

I recently found some normani lampeyes I've been looking for ages. They have been bred and raised in a pond. Hopefully I'll be able to breed them with not too much difficulty.

Anybody keep/kept them here? Any tricks to breeding or are they straight forward to breed?

I used to keep some, but as time passed, they died of old age in my community tank. They seem to thrive in alkaline waters I think. See this info I found on the web:

A breeding report by Adrian Burge in BKA newsletter No.218, October 1983 gave information where the breeder placed them in a 12" square tank in water of DH 20, pH 7-7·2. Temperature recommendations for this sp. are on the cool side of 70-72°F but good results were had at 80°F where 30 eggs were collected on this day.
Water incubation at 72°F takes 19 days. Infusoria was fed for the first couple of days.

    From Tim Addis's site.

That said, they are egg depositors so a floating mop like you'd use for Aphyosemion would suffice. The fry however, while a little "large" in size, have very tiny mouths. So keeping them in some green water with snails and infusoria for the first few days should be enough to get them through.

Cheers for that! I collected over a dozen eggs! Lets hope they'll hatch OK!

Good luck Serkan. I just purchased some Simp. constanciae eggs off Aquabid. Going back to basics. My australe pair are breeding but probably still young because the eggs are infertile. But with time I guess I'll get them to produce some offspring.

Things are going well, I now have probably 15+ fry and twice as many eggs developing!

I got whitei fry at the moment. Good luck with the constanciae
