    Hi all,

Hands got itchy a few days ago, and decided to restart my old 3 feet tank. I think it all started when someone wanted to buy my 3 feet tank, which I did not really want to sell as separate item (but rather as a package).

    Setup date : 22/12/2009 @1730

Tank size: 3*1.5*1.5 Acrylic 5-Plan, with black oyama paper.
    Filter: Eheim 2026
    Lights: 3*39w, T5, 10k
Substrate : ADA AS Africana/Amazonia mix with JBL Base Fert.
    Hardscape: Driftwood
Flora: Peacock Moss, E.tenellus, Vallisneria, Mini Nana, Stems plants, Star Grass ( i will put pictures later, hope you guys can help me id)
Fauna: None at the moment. Hope to have a school of Boraras Maculatus, brigittae, oto, shrimps (malayan, yamato, cherry)
Fert: none, going Non-Co2 Method (at least for now)

    Picture coming soon...

    Cheers, Christophe

Re: Forest of Joy - Aquaobsession Aqua Journal

Do not kill me yet Justin

Ya, still around. Moved house recently from SK to admiralty.
My 4 feet is 2 month running. Just got a Resun CL650 for it. It's like a boat/aeroplane in my living room. But it is keeping my water cold (23-25)
My 1 foot is 2 month running, but my lights broke 2 weeks ago... poor nanas and yamatos.
My 3 feet is up yesterday night.

Will update you guys with photos tonight. Just heard from my gf that my eheim 2026 on the 3 feet tank has leaked after she accidently switched it on and off. But I am sure I gonna fix that tonight, and get the tank running again. But I gonna get scolded, as she had to dry the floor for an hour. Difficult start, how to ask for budget in future.

    Cheers, Christophe

    Leaking filter Fixed. How?
Was drunk last night, came home, keep punching the filter to make sure it's all closed. Now brusing hands. Fingers painful this morning.

Re: Forest of Joy - Aquaobsession Aqua Journal

Plenty of vallisneria and balansae, coming hopefully this saturday. Bro Ranchu, please quote me a good price (via PM), I love to plant heavily, Extras will go to my 4 feet tank.

On my way back home now, will quickly rearrange the wood, then take a photo. Fingers still got open wound, don't know if safe to touch aquarium water

Btw, question time, How to take photo if I only have a 580exII, on that 3 feet tank? I have the wireless thingy, was thinking of putting the flash on top. ((No time to make boxes, as tonight is Christmas eve party)) I was told you need around 3-5 flash to take a 3 feet tank, how true is that? 3 on top, 2 at the top?? or 1 on top, and 2 at the sides. I want to take a decent photo.

    Cheers, Christophe

Re: Forest of Joy - Aquaobsession Aqua Journal

As promised, here are the photos.
Just realised that I did not switch on the lights for 2 days, hahahah, my plants are melting, partly because of that, and I guess more importantly because they are adapting to the water and substrate.

I did not move any wood.

    Front view of the tank.

    Left Side

Please help me id the plantts, Btw, I have never been successful with the "star grass, or so I call it, on the right side of the tank.

I will now wait for your feedback, before I start to move stuff around. Also, giving my plants a chance to adapt.

Relax la, one light will take some time ^o^ welcome to woodlands! Too bad you not near to Gambas, if not, you will see your tank temp drop to 26C at night.

Nice scape! Create a path way in the center between the 2 molds of very nice looking woods. Add a curtain of long background plants and you are ready for ADA 2010 competition.

Re: Forest of Joy - Aquaobsession Aqua Journal

hahha, ada2010,,,,hmmm... when is that... need to get ready by march/april right... Hmm very unlikely... it is a non CO2 setup.... though i have an empty Co2 tank with regulator and diffuser ... hmm..

At the back, there is supposed to be vallisneria.. most of them melted.... but will see how in a few weeks... top up with some tall grass type.. my blyxa japonica at the left side melted completely...

E.tenellus is not taking off.. but given it's only 2 weeks or so, and non-co2, what can i expect.

I am impatiently waiting for the grass type plants on the right to grow... I love the look of that plants.. though most of it initially melted.

And, I have to say, ADA africana is a real challenge to grow plants, as compared to ADA amazonia. Anyone with same experience?

    Cheers, Christophe

Hmm...sorry I don't support genetically altered fishes. It is not a known type natural tetra to me. The skin, color of the intestine, the intestine itself, the color tone all have been toyed with. I really can't bear to look at this fish....very artificial. You will need to excuse me.

Re: Forest of Joy - Aquaobsession Aqua Journal

Maybe not the one described for lab use afterall.

I am basing on my years of rearing tetras. Never come across this genre before. Even in South America, doesn't seem to be anything familiar. But on articles I heard that scientist are developing one transparent see through one for studying purpose. I truly hope this is not the one.

    http://freshaquarium.miningco.com/li...bla_to_z.htm#T
    http://www.fish2u.com/tetras--characins-.html

I admit haven't been researching into much lately. If you see from those old sites, they pretty much sums the tetras species up.

The link that you provided is definitely created recently.
    1. The codings are obviously using an editor.
    2. Any site with 2002 timestamp definitely won't be 70+ visitors only.

However the domain belongs 2002 alright.
