sorry but can i've specific instructions?
thanks! i'm a student, so any shop easily accessible by mrt would be best =X
sorry for the trouble people!
AQ has a Fish Shop Directory with a map. You can look up the shop info there and see which MRT is closest to it on the map. (If you click on the map, it will bring you to Google Maps and you can find and click on the name of the shop on the left side of the map to highlight the correct marker on the map.)
You can also look up Qian Hu's web site. They have information on how to get there. THey hav a shuttle bus from one of the MRT stations.
Start learning to find information you need... this is not school.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.

Wow, whats with the personal dig?
firstly, i was unaware such a feature existed.
secondly, it was just a request. you're in no way obliged to reply...
a forum is created also for people to pose queries yeah? 'finding info' is done through asking too.
so all in all, i don't understand why you had to pass off that snide remark at the end of your post. it is after all my first post.
AQ is for everyone? students too, yeah.
Yah,
Honestly, I don't understand why the need to add on comments that is totally unnecessary in my opinion. Wouldn't it be solved if you had come in and say, actually there's a LFS list you can use. THE END. As a fellow forummer, more so a moderator, are we not supposed to help each other out, even more so that he is a junior who might not be familiar with all the features available. I am sure when I first came here, there are features I am un aware of, but I remembered people were more helpful to me.
thanks for your understanding, shrimppaste.
it made me stay on, knowing that despite moderators who have bad days, there are empathetic forummers out there.
sorry, in any case, if i overly relied on you people.
will search myself for the shops you so kindly suggested =)
ty!
Wu Hu is at Tiong Bahru call Ben before you go down to see if he still has them.
His number is 98151657
@Mystikboy:
You must understand that the LFS list has been there for some time. Maybe you felt slighted by vinz's reply, but the list is there for a reason. Student or not, you should have used the search function before hand.
A note on the Fire Belly Newt. There are probably 2, maybe 3 species of Newt/Salamander for sale in Singapore. I think 2 are Cynops species, and 1 is probably a Paramesotriton, or Tylotriton species. I would advise you to bring a picture off the web along with you, before you purchase the newt you want, because they differ in size and habits, from what I recall.
They are fun pets, but require a special set-up to thrive in. I hope you have a home set up for them.![]()

MystikBoy,
My apologies if you feel slighted. It was not a personal dig at you. I just find that our students are over reliant on being spoon fed. And that habits move into adulthood.
Ironically, this is the information age where information is literally at our fingertips. Yet some people will still ask before at least making a quick search for information. And I'm not just talking about AQ. There is Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.
It was meant as friendly advice, not just for AQ, but for life in general.
(I'm really turning into an 'uncle'.)

Mystikboy, your attitude sucks super d duper!
Suckerfish no eat poo poo.
bryan,
Critical comments like that are not needed. Let's stop that kind of stuff right here, ok? We're all here to learn, whether it's about aquariums or life.

Already AQ is not so active compare with other aquatic website. Every one are here to come in to write/read and making friends. I jointed AQ a long time but not active cos i dont see old member are here to talk. AQ needed more members to support them. I hope such a word should not be use on new member. We are old enough to be big brother in this forum and act like helper please.
Treat your fishes like your baby. The sign and symptom is the same but cannot talk.
Go nature
Let's get back to the discussion shall we?
My question to the original poster is that is he/she aware that these amphibian require cool water temp? Our climate are not too favorable to these amphibian.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

hi folks
Can this Fire bellied newts fit to my new setting up 6ft paludarium, bo?
Hi Eddy, yes they can fit to your paludarium, but they are efficient fish hunters too. I think you should plan out the fauna in advance. When these newts die, they can pollute the water badly, if they die in the water.
I had one for quite some time. Very greedy pet, always looking for bloodworms.

Be careful about mixing amphibians. Some will prey on others.
In Singapore, there are many newts labelled as fire bellies.
One is the Chinese Fire Belly which is the one in my avatar. They grow to about 10cm, with rough skin and pointed tail. Extremely cute, fairly active and community friendly. Always out hunting for small worms. I fed mine with frozen bloodworms. I've kept them with fish and I've never seen them hunt fishes.
Another is the paddletail newt which grows to about 20 cm, smooth skinned and rounded tail end. Often mis-labelled as fire belly because of their red-bellies. These guys are aggressive. By my observation, they are mostly ambush hunters... darting quickly to catch small frogs and fishes. They are territorial and will attack other paddletails and may try to eat the smaller CFB. I've read a report of a paddletail twisting off and swallowing the claws of a small crayfish. They actual perform the 'crocodile roll' - i.e. grab something in their mouth and twisting their bodies to break it off. Mine have blindly grab the foot of another paddletail during feeding frenzy and doing the roll... they have been lucky not to actually do any real harm on each other. (This was when I was unwise and kept 2 in the same small tank.)
Also, many newts excrete toxins which could harm or kill anything that tries to eat it.
A common killer of newts is fungus growth on broken skin... something that CFBs seem to be particularly susceptible to. One cause is nipping by aggressive or territorial fishes.
Well... do your research before keeping these guys.

Thanks gurus!!
This newts are not going to be in my newly set up paludarium. No way!
